DN-300 Series Hardware Setup

Hardware-specific setup procedures for DN-300 series devices including mounting configurations, power options, and mode switching.

DN-300 Environmental Requirements​

Site Requirements​

  • Environmental: Operating temperature 0°C to +40°C (32°F to 104°F), humidity 10-90% non-condensing
  • Ventilation: Minimum 12mm (0.5 inch) clearance on at least one side with airflow through rack if rack mounted
  • Power: 12VDC external adapter or PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) switch
  • Network: CAT-6A or CAT-7 cable for 10GbE copper connection, or fiber cable with SFP+ modules for fiber connections

Mounting Options​

Desktop Mounting​

  1. Place device on stable, level surface
  2. Ensure rear panel access for connections
  3. Allow minimum 12mm (0.5 inch) clearance on at least one side for ventilation

Wall Mounting​

  1. Use included mounting brackets and template
  2. Secure brackets to wall with appropriate fasteners
  3. Attach device to brackets with included screws
  4. Verify secure mounting before connecting cables

Rack Mounting​

Horizontal Rack Mount Kit (DN-300-RMK)​

  • Capacity: Up to 4 devices per 1U rack space
  • Configurations: 1-up or 2-up mounting options as shown in technical drawing
  • Ventilation: Minimum 1/4U open rack space above and below stacked units required
  • Installation: Follow included instructions for proper device spacing and airflow

Vertical Rack Mount Kit (DN-300-RMKV)​

  • Capacity: Up to 10 devices per 6U rack space
  • Access: Individual device access for configuration and service
  • Installation: Follow kit instructions for proper vertical mounting

Power Configuration​

External Power​

  • Power: 12VDC ± 5%, 2.5A maximum (30W max, 13.5W typical)
  • Connector: 5.5mm/2.1mm screw-locking connector
  1. Connect included 12VDC power adapter to device power connector
  2. Rotate connector collar to secure screw-locking connection
  3. Verify POWER LED illuminates green

PoE+ Power​

  • Standard: IEEE 802.3at (minimum 30W per port)
  • Cable: CAT-6A S/FTP or CAT-7 required
  • Maximum Distance: 100 meters (328 feet)
  1. Connect CAT-6A or CAT-7 cable from device 10GbE port to PoE+ switch port
  2. Verify switch supports IEEE 802.3at with adequate power budget
  3. Confirm POWER LED illuminates green

Power Redundancy​

  • Both external and PoE+ power can be connected simultaneously
  • Device operates normally if either power source fails

Operating Mode Configuration​

DN-300 devices support different operating modes that can be configured either using the front panel button or remotely through DisplayNet Manager® or API commands.

Front Panel Mode Configuration​

  1. Locate MODE SWITCH button on front panel (small recessed button)
  2. DN-300H Mode Switching Procedure:
    • Press and hold the MODE SWITCH button until the TX or RX LED starts flashing
    • The flashing LED indicates the unit is switching modes
    • Release the button and wait for the LED to stop flashing
    • The mode switch is complete when the LED stops flashing and remains solid
  3. DN-300T Mode Switching Procedure:
    • Press and hold the MODE SWITCH button until the TX, RX, or both LEDs start flashing
    • Release the MODE SWITCH button once flashing begins
    • Press and release the MODE SWITCH button to scroll through mode selections
    • Mode selection order: TRX (both LEDs) → TX (single LED) → RX (single LED) → repeat
    • Once desired mode is selected, press and hold the MODE SWITCH button until the LEDs stop flashing
    • Release the button - the unit will reset and become operational in the new mode
  4. Mode lights indicate current selection:
    • TX LED (green): TX mode active
    • RX LED (green): RX mode active
    • Both LEDs (green): TRX mode active (DN-300T only)
  5. Allow 2-3 seconds for mode change to complete
  6. Mode setting is automatically retained through power cycles

Default Power-Up Modes​

  • DN-300H: Powers up in TX mode by default
  • DN-300T: Powers up in TRX mode by default
  • Settings are retained from last configuration if changed

Remote Mode Configuration​

Operating modes can also be controlled remotely through:

DisplayNet Manager®:

  • Access device settings for the target DN-300 device
  • Select desired operating mode from the device configuration panel
  • Monitor MODE LED for confirmation

API Commands:

  • Connect to DisplayNet Server® API on port 6980
  • Send mode change commands using DisplayNet API protocol
  • Integrate with third-party control systems as required

Network Connection Setup​

10GbE Copper Connection​

  • Cable: CAT-6A S/FTP or CAT-7 shielded cables
  • Maximum Length: 100 meters (328 feet)
  1. Connect CAT-6A or CAT-7 cable to device 10GbE RJ45 port
  2. Connect to 10GbE switch port
  3. Verify 10GbE LINK LED shows green

10GbE Fiber Connection (SFP+)​

  • Modules: MSA-compliant SFP+ transceivers only
  • Fiber Types: Single-mode (up to 30km) or multi-mode (up to 300m)
  1. Insert SFP+ module into device cage until it clicks
  2. Connect fiber cables to SFP+ module LC connectors
  3. Verify 10GbE LINK LED shows green

1GbE LAN Connection​

  • Function: Automatically bridged to active 10GbE interface
  • Cable: CAT-5e minimum, maximum 100 meters
  1. Connect peripheral devices to 1GbE port as needed
  2. Verify 1GbE LAN LED shows activity

PoE+ Switch Requirements (if using PoE+ power)​

  • IEEE 802.3at Support: Minimum 30W per port capability
