DisplayNet Advantages

DisplayNet is an award-winning AV distribution system that leverages SDVoE technology to switch, extend and distribute uncompressed AV signals in real time over 10GbE infrastructure with resolutions up to 4K/60p. The system delivers zero frame latency performance with no compression artifacts up to 4K/30p, and visually lossless compression for 4K/60p applications.

Traditional AV Infrastructure Challenges

Professional AV systems have traditionally relied on proprietary matrix switchers as their foundation. While this approach has enabled many innovations, it presents several limitations:

  • High costs: Proprietary hardware pricing with limited competition
  • Scalability constraints: Fixed port counts requiring costly chassis upgrades
  • Integration complexity: Specialized support and training requirements
  • Infrastructure limitations: Dedicated cabling and proprietary connections

DisplayNet's Approach

DisplayNet addresses these challenges by leveraging proven IT networking infrastructure. The system utilizes standard 10GbE network switches, which offer significant advantages over traditional AV matrix switchers:

Cost Efficiency: 10GbE network switches can be up to 60% smaller and up to 10x less expensive than equivalent AV matrix switchers, with broader vendor competition driving continued cost optimization.

Scalable Architecture: System capacity is limited only by the number of endpoints and available 10GbE switch ports, enabling near-unlimited expandability through standard networking techniques.

Standard Infrastructure: Uses IT industry-standard CAT-6A cabling, eliminating the need for specialized AV cabling infrastructure while enabling longer cable runs and easier installation.

IT/AV Convergence: Enables IT departments to manage and support AV infrastructure using familiar networking tools and principles, reducing operational complexity and training requirements.

DisplayNet Series Transmitters and Receivers

Each DN-300 series transmitter device accepts multiple source signals; including HDMI (with embedded audio and support for HDCP), DisplayPort, analog stereo audio, bidirectional IR, RS-232, USB 2.0 (if equipped), USB HID (if equipped), and 1GbE Ethernet. Using SDVoE technology, these input signals are packetized and are distributed to receiving endpoints with an off-the-shelf 10GbE network switch using a single CAT-6A cable, up to 328 ft. (100 meters). The 10GbE switch provides a highly efficient and reliable means of distributing AV signals from many sources to manageable groups of DN-300 series receiver devices, which convert the packetized 10GbE data to AV output signals at the destination in real time without frame latency or any loss of image quality. DN-300 series devices distribute uncompressed video with resolutions up to 4K /30p (4:4:4) and compressed video at 4K /60p (4:4:4) without any image quality loss or artifacting, and without frame latency. Video signals may be routed in Point-to-Point, Matrix Switching, Multiviewer, and Video Wall modes; all in the same system. For optimum flexibility, each signal layer (Video, Analog Audio, Downmixed Audio, IR, RS-232, etc.) can be routed completely independently from one another. Advanced audio features are also supported, including networked audio, HDMI audio embedding, de-embedding, and down-mixing. DN-300 Series transmitter and receiver devices are controlled by the DisplayNet Server, which runs powerful DisplayNet Manager software. This web-based software allows for simple control of the system, and includes tools to assist integrators in connecting the system to third-party controllers via Telnet.
